Our History

Independant and skater owned. Since 2011

2011

Campus is founded. First skatepark was established on a Markbury Rd, Bedminster in a former college. Hence the name Campus! Very grassroots, diy and with an uncertain future.

2012

Served notice on the college site and given 3 months to find a new location.

2013

With weeks to spare, we secured the lease on Fromeside youth centre in Winterbourne, and set up Campus round two aka Campus Park.

2014

Begin work on the Campus Pool project our grand plan to turn a derelict swimming pool in south Bristol into an indoor concrete skatepark. This was when things got really real; business loans, forecasting tools and a lot of hard work.

2015

Opened Campus Pool. Skatepark was open and awesome but the building was far from finished. We had always planned for this to be a phased development and the next stage was to get a cafe added to the site.

2017

Opened the Daily Grind cafe at Campus Pool. There then followed 3 or the hardest working years ever. We had grown too quickly and had to stabilise things and work out how to effectively run multiple services over 2 sites.

2020

The covid pause…

2021

Turned the former boiler room into the mini ramp room and with that, finally got Campus Pool to a stage where the whole of the building was in operation. Up until this point there were no go areas that were unsafe and closed to the public – not quite even building sites, just derelict spaces with the building.

2022

Both Pool and Park in full effect and buzzing! Finally after 11 years everything was coming into effect and feeling established. Ramp hire services were developed, as were projects like Skate Club and Skate After School.

2024

The idea of taking over the lease of the former Debenhams building is born and moves are made towards making this a reality.

2025

Shredenhams becomes a reality.
